This Cookies Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies Cerenos uses across AvalonEleven and Helios, and how you can control them. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, our GDPR Policy, and our US Data Privacy Policy. This is version 1 of this Cookies Policy - see the version history link above for every previous version.
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device when you visit a website. Cookies let a site remember who you are between page loads, and are also used by third-party services (like analytics providers) to recognise your device.
We only load Google Analytics, and only set these cookies, after you accept our cookie banner. If you reject or ignore the banner, Google Analytics is never loaded. If your browser broadcasts the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we automatically treat that as an opt-out and never load Google Analytics for you at all, without you needing to click anything - see "Global Privacy Control" below.
Even though we do not sell cookie data for money, using Google Analytics may be treated as a "sale" or "share" of personal data for targeted analytics or advertising purposes under some US state laws (for example, California and Texas) - see our US Data Privacy Policy for what this means for you.
Global Privacy Control is a browser setting or extension that broadcasts a standard opt-out signal to every website you visit. We check for this signal on every page load: if it is present, we skip the interactive cookie banner entirely and never load Google Analytics for you, and instead show a small notice confirming that analytics were automatically disabled. This is independent of, and takes priority over, any earlier Accept/Reject choice you made on that device - if you turn GPC off again later, your last explicit choice (or a fresh banner, if you never made one) applies again.
Our pages load web fonts (Cormorant Garamond, Inter, and others) directly from Google Fonts' servers. Loading a font file discloses your device's IP address to Google, in the same way loading any image or file from a third-party server would. This happens regardless of your cookie choice, since it is needed to render the page correctly. We are evaluating self-hosting our fonts to remove this dependency in the future.
You can accept or reject non-essential (analytics) cookies at any time using the cookie banner shown on our public pages. You can also clear cookies at any time using your browser's settings, though this will sign you out of any active session.
We may update this Cookies Policy from time to time, for example if we add a new analytics tool. Every version we publish is kept - use the version history link above to see exactly what changed and when.
